The afternoon was peaceful, the air humid and the meowing from my kittens an adorable
noise and perfect distraction. I was dusting the house and she just walked straight my front door,
chasing one of them, the kittens. They went out in turns, never all of them. If they did, who
would keep me company in my home? I delighted in their presence, just there playing with them,
washing them and loving their water unloving selfs struggle. But they often got used to it.
Her name was Stephanie she said, and she had been with Peters mom. But she couldnt
remember where they had been. Only about four years, I knew that whoever had her was
shattered, looking for her like the lost coin in the big crowded city. Stephanie seemed less
interested in the devastation she might be causing to that lady whom she was apparently under
her care and probably her parents by now. She was very busy, now playing with the dozen other
kittens at the corner of the room. Her mom had gone on a honeymoon and her dad was working.
I was moved, so young and already in a broken family and she was taking it well. Children talk
and they tell too much and the innocence in it all always so breath-taking.
I called the police, even though I hardly wanted her gone. She was a sweet kid and her
chatters and chuckles filled the house with some kind of different noise. I loved it and I loved her
too. The officer I spoke with had shouted over the phone that they had found her. So the lady had
already reported the missing kid, I figured. He asked for my address before saying that the father
would be coming to pick her up. Her father was attending a meeting at Four oclock Stephanie
responded when I told her that he would be picking her. It was almost four but she was welcome

to stay till the time that her dad would pick her up I said. And that was the honest truth, for it felt
good to have a young life in the house. I had desired a younger brother or sister ever since I can
remember, but my parents were too busy that they never had time for themselves either.
Working for the government was a very good opportunity for whoever that landed on a
job with it. What with all the assurances of both health and whatever else you may want to think
of and the compensation so good in your later years. There were lots of advantages but I never
desired for once to work with the government institutions. Lets just say I had seen what it could
do to a couple and their child (ren). Seeing my own parents was like kismet, and I envied the
children who when growing up had their parents attend every single event they participated in. I
never lacked for anything though, but I would rather have had my parents with me. They may
have been providing for me but I knew they were only chasing for career recognition in their
fields. They woke up very early and retired to the house very late, my babysitters were my
parents and they had now stopped coming.
The door-bell rang and I went to get it. The guy said his hellos hurriedly and splinted into
the house as he called out for Stephanie. And no, she was not willing to answer him, for she
knew that he was coming to take her out of her haven. He tried to lift her up so they could leave
but she didnt want to. I will be late for my meeting Stephanie he explained but she instead
started crying. He gave up, sat down next to her and tried to explain why they must leave as he
played with the kittens too. I admired them. This was the kind of moments I desired from my
parents and I promised myself now that my children would have this and more.
It was so evident that she wouldnt be leaving the house she did not want to leave the
kittens. The dad was happy that he had found her, annoyed that Peters mom had lost her and

devastated that his meeting was now in jeopardy. I could see that it was important to him for
whatever reasons. A last good deed couldnt heart. I told Stephanie to carry one kitten with her
and she stood up quickly, very happy. The dad stood up too, looked at me with gracious eyes, I
could tell that I saved him and they left.

Solution 1: Providing a Safe Haven for Broken Families

The narrative presented above depicts a sad reality that is more common than we may think: broken families. While it may not be possible to single-handedly solve this issue, we can all do our part in making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by it. In this case, the narrator demonstrated kindness by allowing Stephanie, a lost little girl, to stay in their home until her father could pick her up. This act of kindness provided a safe haven for Stephanie, who may have been scared and alone otherwise.

One potential solution to help more broken families is to create community centers or safe houses where individuals can seek refuge during troubling times. These centers can offer resources such as food and shelter, counseling services, and activities for children. In addition, volunteers can be recruited to offer mentorship and support to those in need. By providing these resources, we can help alleviate the burden of those who are going through tough times.

Solution 2: Foster Care Programs for Children in Need

Stephanie, the lost little girl in the narrative, was fortunate enough to have come across someone who showed her kindness and offered her a temporary safe haven. However, not all children in similar situations may be as lucky. One potential solution to help such children is to create more foster care programs.

Foster care provides temporary care for children who cannot stay with their biological families for various reasons, including broken families. These programs can offer a loving and nurturing environment for children, ensuring that their needs are met and that they have a stable home. In addition, foster parents can receive training and support, ensuring that they are equipped to care for the children in their homes. By investing in foster care programs, we can offer hope to those children who may have otherwise fallen through the cracks.
